This website was developed on a voluntary basis at no cost to the city, and remains so today. The site represented Jefferson City's only web presence when it went online in 1995, several years prior to the official city website. The information on this site is specific to the Office of City Clerk, and we would refer you to the city's official website for information pertaining to other city departments or offices.

Duties of the City Clerk

Among other duties, the city Clerk is the designated custodian of all city documents, records minutes of City Council meetings, certifies ballots for election of all city officials and issues, executes city contracts, certifies official documents, issues special tax bills (liens) to recover City funds spent on eliminating nuisances such as weeds, trash, "junk," and unsafe structures, as well as capital improvements such as curbs, gutters, and sidewalks installed at the request (and petition) of a majority of property owners.

City Hall is located at 320 E. McCarty Street in the John G. Christy Municipal Building. The Jefferson City Police Department is located next door at the corner of McCarty and Monroe Streets. The Parks and Recreation Department and Fire Administration Offices are located at the corner of Monroe and Miller on the same block as City Hall and the Police Department. City Hall includes a public hearing room where Council Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 6:00 P.M (local residents can attend or watch the Council Meetings live on JCTV (Cable Channel 3). Agendas for Council Meetings are posted on the website on Fridays before each meeting.
