the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri. For additional information you may write the address above or call toll-free 1-800-535-1117. Among the honored dead are
soldiers from many of America's major conflicts including the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts (Wars).

The cemetery contains several grave markers with a designation of "Unknown Soldier". It also contains a mass grave of fallen officers and men from a
military action which occurred in Centralia, Missouri, on September 27, 1864. The monument has the names of the fallen and an inscription:
The Remains of the Members of
Companies "A" "G" and "H" 39 Regiment Missouri Volunteer Infantry who were Killed in
Action at Centralia MO on the 27th of September are Interred Here.

The Civil War dead in the Jefferson City National Cemetery are comprised of Federal troops
but Confederate dead can be found adjacent to the national cemetery in the City Cemetery. Federal grave stones
have the familiar arched top on the marker while Confederate grave stones have a gabled angle top on the marker.
